"Is my company taking full advantage of this new marketing opportunity?"
Today more and more mobile users are using apps like MeerKat and Periscope to reach thousand of new fans via mobile broadcasting live video across social networks like MeerKastTV and #Katch
Now you may say this is not new. People have been posting videos on Youtube and Facebook for years and you would be right. But you would be comparing a rotary phone to a smartphone.
Both do similar things but one is way more advanced and thereby offers more opportunity to reach more customers.
We have also been able to Stream video for sometime now with programs like Ustream and LiveStream. These are great programs for broadcasting events and structured Live productions as they offer the ability to switch from camera to camera but these programs are not free.
Today anyone with a smartphone anywhere they have a good signal can instantly broadcast live right from the phone in their hand. They can grow their social footprint instantly by answering questions shared by views directly within the app.
Why is this a big change?
Imagine you have a new product and would like to show it using these apps and take and answer questions about the product instantly while sharing a Buy Now link in the live chat.
This is and will be the future of distance learning. Imagine riding Live in a NASCAR while you are at the race or watching the grand kids baseball game on your phone or SmartTV. With the ability to create private programs the opportunity to run pay per-view content will only cause larger companies to move towards this type of social marketing sooner rather than later.
Now is your company ready to take advantage of these changes?
What do you need to know to be able to use these Free or Low Cost Apps to reach more customers?
What Equipment do you need and What kind of Service Provider is needed to begin broadcasting?

1. You will need a smartphone with the newest Android and iOS software. All internet and mobile service providers allow these app. If you are on WIFI you will not have a DATA usage. These programs do not use alot of data so you can broadcast a longtime. On Average 100 mb per 20 mins of broadcasting time according to my tests.

2. Choose and Download the App you wish to broadcast on. If you think MeerKat is for you then download that app. These Apps work directly with Twitter and will notify your contact list (optional) when you go live. So this gives you the ability to create viewer lists.
3. Wireless Mics, Lighting Kits, Tripods, are all very helpful for creating quality broadcasts but not necessary. Good stable platforms will make your life easier and the video sharper when trying to show products. But many people walk around showing tours of their city taking questions from viewers.

4. Viewers will watch live streaming on their mobile device providing the content is interesting and targeted toward your viewer list. Interviews, Funny Content, Special Events are all great ways to watch and return watching you broadcasts.
In the long run in marketing your products and services it's all about face time. Being able to speak with your customers in Boston while broadcasting from Atlanta and doing it for free is a tool I am finding invaluable.
